Terms of use
Last updated: 29 August 2026
Short terms for a small product. They apply to the Topf app and to this website.
The service
Topf is an application for keeping a personal record of money. It is a tool for writing things down: it does not connect to your bank, does not move money, and does not give financial, tax or investment advice.
The figures it shows are the ones you entered, converted at the rates it received. Check anything that matters before acting on it.
Your account
An account is optional; the app also works without one. If you create one, keep access to the email address behind it — the sign-in code goes there, and it is how the account is recovered.
You are responsible for what is done through your account, including what people you invite into a shared book can see and write.
Fair use
Use the app for your own records. Do not attempt to break, overload or circumvent the service, to reverse the security of the synchronisation, or to use the voice endpoint for anything other than entering your own operations.
We may restrict access that damages the service for other people.
Availability
The app works offline by design, so it keeps working when the service does not. Synchronisation, voice input and sign-in need a network and may be interrupted for maintenance or by a provider outage. No uptime is guaranteed.
Price
The app is currently free to use. If paid features are introduced, what is paid and what is not will be stated before you are asked for anything, and nothing you already have will be taken away without notice.
Liability
The service is provided as it is. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage, or for loss arising from decisions made on the basis of what the app displayed. Liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, and under mandatory statutory provisions remains unaffected.
Keeping your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose is your responsibility.
Ending it
You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account from inside it, which deletes your data on the server. We may end an account that is used in breach of these terms, with notice where that is possible.
Changes
These terms may change as the product does. The date at the top says when they last did, and a material change will be announced in the app.
Applicable law
These terms are governed by German law. Mandatory consumer protection rules of the country you live in are unaffected. The operator is named in full in the imprint, and questions go to [email protected].
